About This Blog
Random Thoughts records ideas, musings, feelings, information about writing, journalism, teaching journalism, and life’s lessons.
Depending on inclination and triggers, posts can be journalistic or non-journalistic, academic or non-academic, or just plain and simple writing. Whatever they are, they are expressions of the self.
Writing can be the loneliest of activities because one is left to sort out one’s own thoughts, memories, and emotions. The fulfillment and the joy that comes after the difficult birth of a piece is no different from the victorious feeling of being able to create something out of nothing. Keyboard strokes or scribblings from a pen produce letters which, in combination with each other, produce words. A string of words becomes phrases or sentences that give way to paragraphs. And from paragraphs flow stories and streams of thought. And before your own eyes, what was once an empty page or a blank screen gradually becomes a colorful palette of text made alive by the emotions behind them — whether or not they are given free rein, suppressed or restrained.
Random Thoughts is a writer’s palette. And those who come across it are invited to dip their brushes and co-create something from nothing.
